So, apparently they've changed the definition of "Statesman"

The definition of the word "statesman" has apparently been expanded to include "loud-mouthed, self-aggrandizing buffoons who continually trot out the same oft-debunked conspiracy theory because they're horrible people."

Donald Trump To Be Named 'Statesman Of The Year' By GOP Group Before Convention

You know, just like George Washington was always claiming that John Adams was a British operative. And remember how Thomas Jefferson never shut up about how Monticello was the finest, most luxurious plantation in the entire world. Then hosted a shitty game show.

When in the course of human events, you are indeed fired!

Sarasota GOP chairman Joe Gruters called Trump a "wise, skillful and respectful political leader," pointing to public polling last year that showed Trump narrowly trailing President Barack Obama in a hypothetical match-up.

That's quite a generous description considering that Trump has never led anything political. Nor has he ever been respectful of anyone. Nor wise or skillful. Saying that Trump is a skillful political leader makes as much sense as saying that he is a skillful football coach. There's no indication that he would be any good at either.

So, since he's going to be in Florida anyway, is Trump going to be at the GOP convention?

Trump to Have ‘Major Role’ at GOP Convention, Aide Claims

“While I am not at liberty to disclose the specifics of Mr. Trump’s time at the RNC, I can say he will be playing a major role and was happy to honor Gov. Romney’s request to participate in convention events in Tampa,” Trump Executive Vice President and Special Counsel Michael Cohen told ABC News.
The RNC has been rolling out its list of speakers and VIP guests at the convention this week, but Trump’s name and any official role have not been mentioned. Cohen said Trump’s role at the convention will be detailed in a matter of days.

Of course Trump's name has not come up. There's no way in hell they want him speaking at the convention. The primaries are over, Romney has to start pretending to be a reasonable capable leader, not a drooling, right-wing fucktard.

I still want to see more birth certificates!

Donald Trump 'Declines' Big Speech Offer At RNC: Report

The Huffington Post  |  By Posted: Updated: 08/09/2012 4:43 pm  Yeah. No, he didn't. Donald Trump has never ever ever turned down a chance to shove his fat ugly face in front of any camera or microphone with a decent-sized audience. Donnie, seriously, Romney doesn't want you there! You're an embarrassment. Do you know what an ass you have to be to embarrass Romney? This guy hangs out with Ted Nugent! Not that Nugent is going to be speaking there either, but at least he's probably smart enough to know that.

After weeks of speculation about how RNC organizers would handle the outspoken birther and supporter of GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, a "source with knowledge of convention plans" says an offer for a prime-time speaking slot was made to Trump. According to Newsmax, Trump rejected it due to prior commitments concerning "global business pursuits."

Oh my God, like your "global business pursuits" can wait while you film another season of the Apprentice, but not the GOP National Convention? You have bigger fish to fry than the GOP National Convention. Really.

According to Newsmax's source, convention-goers can expect a big “surprise” from the billionaire, who will already be in Florida accepting his "Statesman of the Year" award from the Republican Party of Sarasota County.

Yes, it will be a "surprise" if security doesn't stop him at the door.

By the way, who is Newsmax's "source" for this?

“While I am not at liberty to disclose the specifics of Mr. Trump’s time at the RNC, I can say he will be playing a major role and was happy to honor Gov. Romney’s request to participate in convention events in Tampa,” he said.

So, if I'm getting this right, Trump has enough time to show up at the convention with a big "surprise" and play a major role, but not enough time to give a speech, because you know, business?

Whoever decided to play "Born in the USA" to celebrate the US women's gold medal

Should have taken a quick look at the lyrics first.

Born down in a dead man town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
You end up like a dog that's been beat too much
Till you spend half your life just covering up

Born in the u.s.a., I was born in the u.s.a.
I was born in the u.s.a., born in the u.s.a.

Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man

Born in the U.S.A...

Come back home to the refinery
Hiring man said son if it was up to me
Went down to see my v.a. man
He said son, don't you understand

I had a brother at Khe Sahn
Fighting off the Viet Cong
They're still there, he's all gone

He had a woman he loved in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms now

Down in the shadow of the penitentiary
Out by the gas fires of the refinery
I'm ten years burning down the road
Nowhere to run aint got nowhere to go

Born in the u.s.a., I was born in the u.s.a.
Born in the u.s.a., I'm a long gone daddy in the u.s.a.
Born in the u.s.a., born in the u.s.a.
Born in the u.s.a., I'm a cool rocking daddy in the u.s.a.
